2) Best Practices and Deployment: 关于在实际中怎么用SW技术,一些design pattern,一些使用经验,非常实用。

值得关注!

很好的一个关于SW的QnA.

Ivan Herman (W3C Head of Offices) has created a very nice set of slides
on questions people have about the SW. See the link below.

http://www.w3.org/2004/Talks/3108-Stockholm-IH/

一些摘要:
q0: Is the SW AI on the Web?
No! RDF and OWL are very simple things (compared to AI, that is…) ,They offer:
a simple way to express and store metadata and a way to “structure” and characterize the terms  and that is it!

q1: what is the "Semantic Web" ?
The “Semantic Web” is a metadata based infrastructure for simple reasoning on the Web

q2: Where is the “Web” in SW?
URI-s ground RDF into the Web,T he “Web” is in the URI-s!

q3:Isn’t the RDF Model way too complex?
RDF is a graph! One should “think” in terms of graphs, and RDF/XML is only a tool for practical usage! If one thinks in graphs, things become simple!

q4:Why should I use RDF?
RDF is great for the integration of heterogeneous information!

......

JRDF
JRDF - Java RDF API

JRDF is an attempt to create a standard set of APIs and base implementations to RDF (Resource Description Framework) using Java. The API will cover anything that is deemed to be useful for Java programmers. A key aspect will be to ensure a high degree of modularity and to follow standard Java conventions. It will be similar to other standard Java APIs such as JDBC, XML DOM, Collections, etc.

XHTML and RDF
XHTML and RDF

We have two standards running parallel with each other; HTML is the de facto standard for document markup, accounting for millions of items on the web. RDF is a standard for expressing metadata, which in turn provides a foundation for making use of that metadata, such as reasoning about it. Yet the former is very rarely the subject of the latter; meta information placed in the HTML family of documents is often encoded in such a way as to make it difficult to extract by RDF-related parsers. And if it cannot be extracted, then it cannot be used.

Our intention here is to make more of the information that is contained within HTML-family documents available to RDF tools, but without putting an unnecessary burden on authors familiar with HTML, but not with the subtleties of triples and statements.

GraphPath is a little-language for analysing graph-structured data, especially RDF. The syntax of GraphPath is reminiscent of Xpath. It has a python implementation that can be teamed up with your favourite python RDF API (e.g. Redland, rdflib, or your own API).

WWW 2004 Workshop on the Weblogging Ecosystem: Aggregation, Analysis and Dynamics
New York, May 18th 2004

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Theme of the Workshop

Weblogging has emerged in the past few years as a new grassroots publishing medium. Like electronic mail and the web itself, weblogging has taken off and by some estimates the number of weblogs is doubling every year. Recent estimates place the number of active weblogs at about 1.4 million.

The weblogging microcosm has evolved into a distinct form, into a community of publishers. The strong sense of community amongst bloggers distinguishes weblogs from the various forms of online publications such as online journals, 'zines and newsletters that flourished in the early days of the web and from traditional media such as newspapers, magazines and television. The use of weblogs primarily for publishing, as opposed to discussion, differentiates blogs from other online community forums, such as Usenet newsgroups and message boards. Often referred to as the blogsphere, the network of bloggers is a thriving ecosystem, with its own internally driven dynamics.

The cross-linking that takes place between blogs, through blogrolls, explicit linking, trackbacks, and referrals has helped create a strong sense of community in the weblogging world. There is work underway to understand the dynamics of the weblogging network, much of which springs from bloggers themselves. The self-publishing aspect of weblogs, the time-stamped entries, the highly interlinked nature of the blogging community and the significant impact of weblog content on politics, ideas, and culture make them a fascinating subject of study.

RDF数据集,对做RDF查询和存储,或其他需要试验数据的人很有用。

RDF Data
http://www.snee.com/rdfdata/

This is a list of stores of RDF data available on the web. Please add comments, corrections, and new entries to the RDFData wiki, and eventually they'll be reflected here. I'm more interested in larger files than smaller files, which is why this has no links to individual FOAF files or RSS feeds.
