图像和视频存储和检索是多媒体技术领域一个快速发展和激动人心的课题。但是不同课题组的研究人员，以及研究人员与用户之间的思想交流非常有限。CIVR希望为全球的学者提供一个研讨图像和视频检索的研究和发展现状的交流平台，为此发展成为每年一度的系列国际会议。CIVR2010欢迎本领域原创的高质量的论文投稿，欢迎广大的学者积极参加这一盛会。
CIVR2010大会接收的论文将由美国计算机学会ACM出版系列国际会议论文集。会后将在IEEE Transactions on Multimedia, IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, Computer Vision and Image Understanding, or Journal of Multimedia Systems等国际期刊上组织题为“Internet-scale Image and Video Search”的专辑，部分优秀论文（扩展后）将发表在该专辑中。
